Early start for PS3 sales at Game

Free bacon butties for 150 gamers

Game is planning to celebrate the launch of Sony’s PlayStation 3 (PS3) on Friday by opening the doors of its Oxford Street store at 7am to 150 gamers.

Like HMV, which yesterday cancelled the planned midnight opening of its Oxford Street store due to police concerns over security, Game has also decided to open in daylight hours. This will ensure gamers have access to public transport and can safely transport their consoles home.

Game will be welcoming the first 150 gamers that have pre-ordered the PS3 at 7am on the day with bacon butties, coffee and Sony goody bags. The store will then be open to all Game customers at 9am.

Anna Macario, Game’s marketing director, said: “The launch of the PS3 is a big deal to our customers. We are managing the launch so it is safe for them, and the only thing they have to concentrate on is securing their new console.”
