PlayStation 3 Home beta site goes live

PS3's networked community useable from April

During his keynote presentation at GDC (Games Developers Conference) in San Fransisco this week, Sony's Phil Harrison announced that there would be a beta version of Home for the PlayStation 3 made available in April.

Home will be a real-time networked community that serves as a meeting place for PlayStation 3 users from around the world, where they can interact, communicate, join online games, shop, share content and even build their own personal spaces. Home will be available as a free download from the PlayStation Store and will launch directly from the PS3.

A place-holding site went live on Thursday, advertising the impending release of the beta trial. The full release is expected in the autumn.

The site currently says:

’Welcome to Home Beta.

Keep checking back on this site to register an interest in taking part in an exclusive closed Beta Trial of Home.'
