World of Warcraft demo launched

Free trial ahead of new WoW expansion pack

Blizzard Entertainment has released a free ten-day demo of World of Warcraft for Windows and Mac OS X.

World of Warcraft, first released in 2004, is a worldwide phenomenon - millions of players compete and collaborate in servers around the globe. It's a massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) in which you create a character from one of several playable races, specify their character class and profession, then explore a fantasy world populated by mythical monsters.

The free trial edition doesn't require any commitments - you can stop playing after the ten days - but if you want to, you can upgrade your account at the end of the trial.

The ten-day free demo of World of Warcraft comes just weeks before Blizzard is scheduled to release The Burning Crusade, the first expansion pack for the game.
