Watch the opening to 'Star Wars: A New Hope' as recreated in Minecraft

Even someone who's watched Star Wars A New Hope hundreds of times needs to see this Minecraft recreation.

If you're a regular GeekTech reader you might remember YouTube user ParadiseDecay's Minecraft recreation of the Death Star trench run from Star Wars: A New Hope. It looks like this Star Wars and Minecraft fan won't be putting down his mining tools yet, as he's replicated yet another classic scene.

ParadiseDecay's latest video is a recreation of the opening scenes the original Star Wars film from 1977. This new video begins with the iconic opening crawl of text, but the Minecraft influence quickly becomes apparent.

The best parts of this video have got to be the magnitude of the ships, Darth Vader's hilarious entrance, and the attention detail--albeit pixelated--put into R2-D2. However, some of the sequences seem a little off. Considering it was all made in Minecraft, though, you have to admit that it's a good effort.

Fittingly, ParadiseDecay published the video on May 4th--Star Wars Day.

ParadiseDecay hopes to add more scenes to his latest project, so who knows how the Minecraft version of the movie might develop. Hey, even if you've seen the original, a blocky recreation is always good to follow!
