PS4 controller gets touchscreen and PlayStation Move
A touchscreen controller for Sony's upcoming PS4 games console has been leaked online.
The device has been published by Destructoid and multiple sources have confirmed the controller is an early prototype. As you can see from the photo, the PlayStation 4 controller has a touch-sensitive area. See also: PS4 release date, specs and rumours.
It is thought that the PS4 controller is plugged into a development system, not some new supersized console from Sony. The light on top looks akin to Sony's PlayStation Move sensor so the controller might be used in a similar way.
"Apparently they've tried out several versions of controllers for whatever this next game system is; it's possible that this is one of them." said Destructoid.
New, slightly strange looking, analog sticks have appeared and in the middle are a set of holes suggesting a speaker like Nintendo's Wii remote. Alternatively, and much more exiting, is the possibly of a microphone and voice controller software like Apple's Siri.
The controller seems to have taken some influence from the PS Vita handseld console. Some are suggesting there is also a touchscreen on the rear. Still, the D-pad, four main buttons and shoulder buttons are present and correct.
It is widely expected that Sony will give details on the PS4 next week at a scheduled PlayStation event which will take place on 20 February in New York.
