Xbox World publishes next-gen console specifications
Specifications for Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console have been revealed. You can watch the new Xbox launch livestream right here on PC Advisor.
In its penultimate issue, Xbox World magazine has revealed the specifications of the Xbox 720. The follow-up to the Xbox 360could just be called 'Xbox' and will introduce Kinect 2.0. See also: Microsoft to make 7in Xbox Surface gaming tablet.
Editor in chief Dan Dawkins told CVG: "Xbox World has been at the cutting edge of Durango coverage for over 12 months. Unless something really dramatic changes, everything we reveal in our penultimate issue will be revealed long before E3 in June."
Beyond Kinect 2.0, the next Xbox will feature Blu-ray discs, directional audio, augmented reality, TV output and input and an innovative controller. It's also possible that at some point there will be some AR glasses.
Current developer kits boast a CPU with 'four hardware cores' and 8GB of RAM.
The Xbox will use the same VapourMG magnesium used for the Surface RT tablet and will be modelled on Microsoft's Wedge Touch mouse.

Slap_the_chimp said: If I was a PS3 fan I would be happy that microsoft is switching to blu-ray Now developers have an incentive to develop cross console games with greater graphics and gameplay rather than being restricted by the incapable hardware of the xboxYou cant shoot a company down for wanting to improve their console it like telling LG woah blud hang on a minute you can only make dvd players blu-ray woz ere firstI for one am looking forward to the next gen xbox switched from the ps one to xbox and never looked back
