UK TV Channel Confuses Video Game Footage for Real Combat

The United Kingdom's ITV recently confused footage from ArmA 2 for a real IRA attack.

While video game dissenters often bemoan the fact that gamers can't distinguish real life from their virtual worlds, British broadcasting channel ITV took that one step further. They mixed in footage from ArmA II? into the documentary Exposure last night, claiming it was actual combat.

You can see from the clip here that the footage, while somewhat grainy, is definitely from a video game. But speaking to Eurogamer, ArmaA II developer Bohemia Interactive CEO said, "I already had a chance to see the documentary, and so far I am not sure how could they make such an obvious mistake." Also adding, "We consider this as a bizarre appreciation of the level of realism incorporated into our games."

While not a malicious gaffe at all, it's a funny one nonetheless.
