It's been a good few years since we had a Tribes game. The upcoming Tribes: Ascend, whose jetpack-fuelled multiplayer sci-fi combat proved popular among PAX Prime attendees, is set to make use of the increasingly popular free to play model. But before it's unleashed on the public, it needs some testing.
That's where you come in. Drop by the Tribes: Ascend website and register for a chance to be one of the "hand-selected players" who get to play the game early as the closed beta launches in the next few weeks. Developer Hi-Rez Studios will be granting access to "thousands" of players for the closed beta, with a gradual increase in the number of participants as the game gets closer to its planned release date of Q1 2012.
Closed beta participants will have the chance to play on 4 different maps with 2 different game modes and 3 vehicles. 12 playable classes will be on offer, and matches will accommodate up to 32 players simultaneously.
Find out more about the game via the official website.
