Angry Birds and other games coming to Google+

Social network to offer 16 games

Google has revealed it is bringing games to its new social network Google+.

The search engine said it will make 16 games from third-party developers, including Angry Birds, Bubble Island and Bejewelled Blitz, available through the social network.

"Today we're adding games to Google+. With the Google+ project, we want to bring the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to the web. But sharing is about more than just conversations. The experiences we have together are just as important to our relationships. We want to make playing games online just as fun, and just as meaningful, as playing in real life," Google said in a blog.

"That means giving you control over when you see games, how you play them and with whom you share your experiences. Games in Google+ are there when you want them and gone when you don't".

The games will be rolled out to Google+ users gradually.

"We look forward to making them fully available to everyone in Google+ soon," Google said.

Google+ was launched at the end of June and hopes to rival Facebook's popularity by letting consumers share photos, chat to each other and leave messages and comments.

Furthermore, the social network benefits from Circles, which lets user's create lists of friends to share content with, as well as live video-chat for multiple users known as Hangouts, Huddle - a form of group instant messaging - and Sparks, which lets users interact with others that have similar interests.

Within two weeks it had gained more than 10 million members, despite being in a 'limited field trial'.
