Humble Indie Bundle 3 Raises Over $2M, Sells 372,235 Copies

Letting gamers set their own price for Humble Indie Bundle 3 has paid off for charity and the dev teams, netting over $2M.

Humble Indie Bundle 3 has officially closed up shop, with donations topping out at $2.16 million. Gamers were even more generous this time around, with HIB3 comfortably beating the previous record held by Humble Indie Bundle 2, which racked up $1.8 in sales and donations. Every person who bought the collection of indie games is now the proud, DRM-free owner of Crayon Physics Deluxe, Cogs, VVVVVV, Hammerfight, And Yet It Moves, Steel Storm, and Atom Zombie Smasher.

Most people who purchased the Humble Indie Bundle paid in the area of $5.82, with the highest purchase coming from bitcoin currency company Mt. Gox.

Humble Indie Bundle 3's sales were likely boosted by the sheer mass of content for early adopters and big spenders. Initially only containing five games, Steel Storm and Atom Zombie Smasher joined the lineup in the first week of August, while the games from the Second Humble Indie Bundle (Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos, Revenge of the Titans) became available as a package deal. Gamers could also donate to Child's Play and the Electronic Frontier Foundation as part of the two-week promotion.
