F1 2011 Exits the Pits on September 20

F1 2010 provided an excellent racing experience for fans of high-speed racing and offered players the chance to experience the life of Formula One racer both on and off the track. Now Codemasters has announced that the franchise is getting another outing later this year.

Like Codemasters' other recent titles DiRT 3 and GRID, emphasis is put on immersing the player in the experience and providing a less "lonely" feeling by having someone bellowing instructions over your helmet-mounted radio throughout the race. Alongside this, cinematic sequences play before, during and after the race at important moments such as pitstops.

Codemasters are being relatively coy about specifically what new features they're adding to the new game, but promise a "vastly extended multiplayer component" as well as the debut of the Grand Prix of India track at Delhi's Jaypee Group Circuit, and the return of the Nürburgring, which every racing fan is probably getting sick of seeing by now.

Handheld editions are in the works for 3DS and Vita with special features designed to take advantage of each platform's specific capabilities. Xbox, PS3 and PC versions are set to hit the streets on September 20, with handheld editions to follow at an unspecified later date.
