£320m worth of Christmas gadgets left unused

One in 12 can't get their tech gifts to work

One in 12 Brits still haven't managed to get a gadget they received for Christmas working, despite being a month since they were given the technology, says TalkTalk.

Research by the UK ISP revealed the average cost of these gadgets was £225, although nearly a quarter (24 percent) believe the gift was worth more than £300. This means the total cost of the Christmas gadgets left not working is £320m.

Furthermore, 14 percent admit to suffering from "gadget guilt" or a guilt over the amount of money spent of the gadgets that remain unused, while 26 percent feel they aren't getting the most out of their technology.

Just over a quarter (28 percent) said the would like more help from companies that sell or make gadgets on how to get the most out of them.

Mark Schmid from TalkTalk said: "It's a little sad to see how many people still haven't got their Christmas gizmos working. Consumers clearly need and want more help in getting their technology up and running".

"Many useful starting points can be found online, which is why at TalkTalk we're trying to do our bit by providing guides for customers on how to optimise their broadband connection."
