Microsoft brings Zune movie service to UK

Xbox users can stream HD films to console

Microsoft is re-launching its Xbox Live movie service in the UK, under its Zune brand.

The service will give Xbox users the ability to stream HD movies to their console, providing they have a fast enough broadband connection and will be rolled out in an update along with Twitter and Facebook support.

However, Xbox owners will need a Gold Xbox Live subscription to access the social networking features.

Unfortunately Microsoft still doesn't have any plans to bring the Zune brand of personal music and video to the UK.

The devices have been available in the US since 2006, and Microsoft had hoped they would rival Apple's iPod in popularity, but they have yet to make it to the UK.
