Sony CEO Howard Stringer claims the PlayStation 3 (PS3) will defeat Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360 in the long term as it's "infinitely more fun, demanding and exciting".
Despite slow initial sales of the PS3, Stringer feels "much more confident" now given the increased demand for the console in recent weeks. Last month, the console surpassed single-month Wii sales for the first time in Japan, something Stringer himself says was helped by ongoing Wii shortages.
"I'm glad that the last few weeks have generated excitement about PlayStation 3," he added. "Everyone's stopped talking about it the way they were six months ago."
