Microsoft Yesterday claimed that in the previous week its Xbox 360 games console had outsold the PlayStation 3 by a ratio of 2:1 in the US. The week of Thanksgiving is generally considered an important pointer to the Christmas season.
Microsoft said it based the US sales numbers on: "Estimates from top retailers." Sony disputes the figures, saying they are: "way off".
"It's (Sony Computer Entertainment America) policy not to disclose our unit sales numbers until NPD numbers are officially released which will be December 13," a Sony official said on Thursday."However, I can assure you that Microsoft's estimates of our PS3 unit sales numbers are way off, and they did not outsell PS3 2:1 during Black Friday week."
Sony did not release unit sales numbers, but last week reported a 245 percent increase in PS3 sales thanks to its newly reduced and more attractive $399 (about £200) price in the US.

fdhdshsdh said: The reason Sony didnt release sales figures while Microsoft did is because Sony live in the real world where they wait for sales to actually be counted before releasing figures while Microsoft just make it up to try and get some good PRThere are some sales figures for November for Microsoft to enjoy The PS3 has just sold 183000 for the month in Japan beating the Wiis 159000 and outselling the 360 by 51 Oh wait Microsoft wont enjoy that at all which is why you wont hear any mention of Japan from them They are pretty quiet about Europe as well for some reason
