Report: New Nintendo DS to feature bigger screen

Portable console coming "early next year"

Nintendo is working on an updated Nintendo DS with slightly bigger screens that will both feature touch, according to reports.

The rumoured release date for such a device is an ambiguous "early next year".

This news, while fascinating, is nothing new. As PC Advisor's sister title GamePro has reported several times in the past, rumours have arisen constantly throughout 2007 and 2008 about the handheld, and every time Nintendo has met them with a stern denial. This was the case on Wednesday as well, with GameIndustry reporting Nintendo branding the report as "rumour and speculation" at best.
