Pre-orders of the highly anticipate Xbox 360 game – Halo 3 - have exceeded 1 million in North America, Microsoft has revealed.
The company says the number formally breaks previous pre-order records in the video game industry.
Halo 3, the final game of the Halo trilogy, is launching on September 25 and will be available in three editions: a regular version for $59, a special edition for $69 including added content, and a $129 ‘Legendary’ edition featuring a life-size Master Chief mask.
"Our competition isn't other videogames. We put it on the plane with other entertainment launches, versus other game launches," a Microsoft represent told the Wall Street Journal in preparation for the game's launch.
