Nintendo Wii to outsell PS2

Console wars: Nintendo targets Sony's lead

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said in a statement last week that the Nintendo Wii could surpass total PS2 sales given the former system's continued success.

To date, Sony has shipped more than 120 million PS2s worldwide, an unprecedented and record number for home consoles. By comparison, the Wii has sold an estimated 9 million units to date.

Nintendo expects to sell another 10 million during the current business year to March 2008.
