Research firm Screen Digest predicts that by 2010 just under half of the UK's TV-watching households will have an HD-ready set but they're common enough now and the gee-whiz factor has gone. News: Apple's iPhone enters top-ten phone list
Apple became one of the world's largest mobile phone makers in 2007, despite the iPhone only launching in June. The handset was released in the US last summer, and became available in only three other countries – the UK, Germany and France – at the end of the year.

Sony has developed a hand-powered digital still camera prototype. The device is the first working concept to come from Sony Design's "odo" project that is attempting to come up with kinetically-powered devices that stimulate a child's creativity, curiosity and energy.

News: BBC iPlayer coming to iPhone & iPod touch
iPhone and iPod touch owners will be able to use the BBC's iPlayer on-demand TV service "within weeks", the broadcaster has confirmed. This will be the first time the broadband TV service has been available beyond PC and Mac computers.

News: Gamers to control characters with their brains
A headset that allows gamers to control their play with just their thoughts will go on sale later this year. The neuro headset, which has been launched by Emotiv, picks up electrical impulses from the nerve cells in our brain. Non-invasive electroencephalography (EEG) technology is then used to read the impulses and send signals wirelessly to a computer.

News: iPod shuffle price cut as 2GB model beckons
Apple has dropped the price of the iPod shuffle to £32. Originally priced at £49, the 1GB digital music player is the smallest produced by Apple and is available in five colours; silver, blue, green, purple and a (PRODUCT) RED special edition that helps raise money for the (RED) charity. Founded by U2 singer Bono and Bobby Shriver the charity helps to finance health programs in Africa.
