Google has released a future looking video of Project Glass, a pair of smart glasses dubbed 'Google goggles'.
Project Glass is underway at Google X
Project Glass is all about bringing smartphone and tablet type technology to a pair of glasses which are sight and voice controlled. The team at Google X has started the project to bring the sci-fi style technology to life.
The Google X team said: "We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t."
"We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do." it added.
The video shows a glimpse of what we might get our hands on in the future. The Google goggles can give weather information when you look out the window, show you a text message and allow you to reply with voice dictation and more.
One section of the video shows the glasses informing the user that the underground system is suspended before they enter the station and goes on to give turn by turn walking directions to the destination. It can also do Siri type things like set reminders and take pictures with voice commands with what seems to be a custom version of Android.
We don't know how far away from getting hold of a pair of these we are but we hope it's sooner rather than later. For now check out Google's video demonstration of what it hopes to achieve with Project Glass.
