TomTom offers free live services for a year

Satnav firm slashes cost of traffic alerts

TomTom is offering drivers a year's free subscription to its Live services when they buy a satnav.

The Live services are delivered to the TomTom satnavs via a built-in SIM card. The services include HD traffic information that's updated every three minutes, Google search, speed camera alerts and a real-time fuel price search, which scours over 12,000 petrol stations in the UK to locate the cheapest fuel on your route or within the area you are currently located.

The offer is open to those that purchase an XL live, a GO 550, GO 750 Live or GO 950 Live device, and covers all Live services except speed camera alerts.

"Our Live services improve people's daily lives using real time routing information. Empowering users to confidently deal with the ever-changing road situation and take the right decisions to suit their journey," said Damian Woodward, VP sales and marketing for TomTom.

The sat nav manufacturer has also slashed the cost of the Live services in half. Initially, they were priced at £7.99 per month, meaning a year's subscription cost £95.97. However, now a year's access to the service costs just £47.50.
