Apple iPad available for pre-order today

Device to be delivered on May 28

Apple has made the iPad available in the UK for pre-order.

The highlight-anticipated Slate PC was first announced at the beginning of the year, and launched in the US in April. Initially Apple also planned to make the iPad available in the UK last month, but delayed the launch due to unprecedented demand in the US.

Brits can pre-order the device from Apple's dedicated webpage. It comes with free delivery and expected to be shipped in time for May 28.

Apple is offering a Wi-Fi-only iPad, which is available in either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB capacities. A Wi-Fi and 3G version is available in the same capacities.

Last week Apple revealed the iPad will cost £429 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, while the 32GB and 64GB versions will be priced at £499 and £599 respectively.

Meanwhile, the 3G models cost from £529 for the 16GB model, £599 for 32GB and £699 for 64GB. All prices include VAT.

Apple has added a £100 premium for the addition of 3G functionality.

The news comes as both O2 and Orange announced mobile data plans specifically for iPad owners.
