NAB CTO appointed as CIO

National Australia Bank (NAB) has confirmed that its CTO Denis McGee is now CIO.

An NAB spokesman said that changes were made to its senior management team to allow the bank to focus on "simplification and digitisation."

"McGee's role and responsibilities remain the same. He continues to oversee NAB's technology function," the spokesman said in a statement.

In February 2013, McGee forecast operational cost reductions of $22 million over seven years as the bank planned to consolidate 20 data centres and computer rooms down to two facilities in Melbourne.

As CIO, he will report to Enterprise Services and Transformation group executive Lisa Gray.

McGee will also work with former CIO Adam Bennett who took on responsibility for the bank's NextGen IT transformation program in November 2012.

NAB is currently four years into the program which includes an overhaul of its core banking system, applications, infrastructure and networks.

NAB has been contacted for more information by CIO Australia.
