DfE to deploy new teacher training system

Tracking who teaches the teachers

The Department for Education is tendering a contract for a managed teacher training data management system.

The DfE says the succesful bidder will work in partnership with its Teaching Agency to develop an online "flexible and future proof" data management system, to enable the capture, management, publication, analysis and dissemination of data relating to initial teacher training in England.

The new system will replace the existing Ittdms (initial teacher training data management system) and Ebittdms (Employment-based routes data management system).

The successful bidder will be responsible for the initial design, development, build and implementation of the new Ittdms and on-going maintenance, including any licensing over the 3-5 year lifetime of the contract.

They will also be responsible for the collection, management and analysis of data about trainees, training provision and training providers; and the publication of a number of datasets. Online and telephone maintenance support for users must also be provided.

There is a deadline for applying for the contract of 3 January 2013.

The DfE last month announced new computer science teacher training scholarships run by the BCS.
