EasyJet CIO Trevor Didcock named number 1 in 2012 CIO 100 roll of honour

Low cost airline CIO sets the transformation agenda for the UK's IT leaders, Severn Trent Water and Thomson Reuters on the podium too

EasyJet CIO Trevor Didcock has been named as the number one CIO in Great Britain in a new look CIO 100 published by IDG title CIO UK today.

Didcock was judged against 100 technology leaders in every vertical market by a CIO UK panel of experts including former CIOs Richard Sykes and Jerry Fishenden as well as IT leader Mike Altendorf and analysts Neil Ward-Dutton and Ade McCormack.

For 2012 CIO UK has revised the CIO 100 to reflect the role technology and CIOs as technology leaders have to transform the way organisations operate so that they offer improved services to their customers, workers, partners and communities.

"Previously the CIO 100 and other power lists tended to focus too much on the size of the technology estate or budget that CIOs were in command of. I do not believe this reflects the real nature of what technology and a CIO can do for an organisation," said Mark Chillingworth, CIO UK Editor in Chief.

Didcock stood out in amongst some leading CIOs for his transformative agenda at the low cost airline easyJet, his vision for improved business and technology processes and his close relationship with the CEO that led to the CIO running the overall organisational agenda at easyJet.

"Didcock described himself as a 'change junkie' in an interview with CIO UK, the judging panel and I felt that this and his excellent track record placed him in the coveted number one spot against some very impressive CIOs such as Myron Hrycyk, Jane Moran and others," said Chillingworth.

The CIO 100 was created by face-to-face interviews and questionnaires to over 100 CIOs in the British economy. Questions focused on board level influence, recent technology acquisitions, plans for the next 12 months, vision for what technology can do for the CIO's organisation, as well budget, management and IT work force sizes.
