TalkTalk formally launched its YouView TV, service on 4 July last year and since then has racked up a total of 390,000 customers in the UK.
June was TalkTalk's strongest month in YouView sales, and 160,000 new subscriptions were added over the last three months. TalkTalk said this was largely down to its partnership with Sky Sports. See also: TalkTalk launches The Big Free for TV, broadband and phone.
Overall, the firm said that three-quarters signups are consumers upgrading from Freeview and Freesat because of YouView's on-demand content. See also: BT YouView Humax DTR-T1000 review.
TalkTalk's chief executive, Dido Harding, said "For our loyal customers it's a great way to upgrade from their existing TV service. New customers are connecting to TalkTalk for the first time too with feedback showing very high levels of satisfaction with every aspect of the service, from sign-up to installation, content available and the functionality of YouView which allows them to catch-up, search and record."
Movies and children's programming remain the most predominant content for TalkTalk with 26 percent of households willing to spend more every month on premium content.
The 3 top grossing blockbuster films are Life of Pi, The Hobbit and Wreck-It Ralph. Although, funnily enough, Peppa Pig has been consecutively the most watched on-demand program on the TalkTalk Player, followed closely by Ben and Holly.
The most popular on-demand entertainment channel is ABC, which airs hit shows such as Criminal Minds. TalkTalk's own free award-winning children's TV channel, Scamp, is the second most popular.
In a bid to tempt subscribers, TalkTalk launched The Big Free on 11 of July, offering both new and existing customers a summer of free entertainment with TV, unlimited broadband and free calls for three months.
YouView has teamed up with partners including BBC, ITV and Channel 4 to provide 7 day catch up on iPlayer and 4OD with the ability to pause, rewind and record up to 4,000 shows, no extra charge.
