A PC Advisor survey has discovered that nearly one in three readers (30.7 percent) consider Sky's 3D channel a gimmick, and do not plan to subscribe to the service.

Forum member anchor commented: "More important that 3D, or any other gimmick, is the quality of the programmes."

Seth Haniel, meanwhile, quoted a popular joke doing the rounds: "If you can't make it good, make it 3D."

Asked 'Will you subscribe to Sky's 3D channel', 26.8 percent ticked 'No - it's too expensive'.

alan14 dismissed the service as "just another way of extracting cash from gullible people".

Just under one in ten (9 percent) selected 'No - I can't see 3D TV properly!', while a further 13.6 percent answered 'No - other reason'.

In total, 80.1 percent of respondents gave a definite no.

The answer 'Yes - sounds great!' was selected by 8.7 percent.

The remaining 11.2 percent of voters answered 'Maybe' or 'Don't know'.
