Apple TV shipping in the UK now

Media-streaming device finally released

Apple has confirmed Apple TV is now shipping in the UK. Reports from PC Advisor’s sister title, Macworld, yesterday confirmed Apple's front-room media streaming device was ready to reach customers.

The Apple TV lets users stream content - video, music, images, podcasts and iTunes movie previews - from a Mac or PC to a widescreen TV and ships with an Apple Remote and a customised version of Front Row. It supports up to five computers wirelessly and can sync content to its 40GB drive from one dedicated machine.

"Apple TV is like a DVD player for the internet age - providing an easy and fun way to play all your favourite iTunes content from your PC or Mac on your widescreen TV," said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing.

The device is capable of delivering high-definition 720p output. It ships with HDMI, component video, analogue and optical audio ports. It costs £199.
