iTunes movies gets new partner

Independent film maker signs up in the US

IFC Entertainment has become the latest film producer to sign a deal with Apple in the US, announcing that it’s offering independent films for sale and download through Apple's iTunes Store. The company is including all of its 2007 Independent Spirit Award nominees.

IFC Entertainment includes IFC Films and IFC Productions. The company also runs a cable television channel, the Independent Film Channel, in the US. Past IFC Films work includes the Oscar-winning Hilary Swank film Boys Don't Cry and Touching the Void, a documentary about two climbers who came close to death in the Peruvian Andes. All IFC films on iTunes cost US$9.99.

Apple is expected to launch iTunes movie downloads in the UK this spring.
