Jobs announces Apple TV

Media streaming box launched at Macworld Expo

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs has revealed further details of the company's wireless media streaming device, codenamed iTV, at today’s Macworld Expo keynote.

Now renamed Apple TV, the device is designed to connect your digital media to your living-room TV using the 802.11n draft standard. It's capable of displaying 720p HD video and includes a 40GB hard drive.

Jobs said that the new product, which connects directly with iTunes, is capable of streaming content from up to five computers. As well as streaming video content, Apple TV can also be used for still images and music.
