Christmas Surprise! Moto G will begin shipping to the U.S. next week

Motorola is now accepting orders for a no-contract GSM version of the Moto G beginning at $180.

When Google announced the low-cost Moto G earlier in the month, the company said the phone wouldn't be available in the US until early January. As it turns out, Mountain View was just kidding! It'll totes be available for preorder starting today, and shipping by next week.

Customers can now place their order for a GSM version of the Moto G with no contract, no SIM lock, and an unlockable bootloader through Motorola.com. Phones will begin shipping December 2.

The 8GB version of the phone will be available for $180, the 16GB for $200. The company promises that a CDMA version will still be coming in January.

We have reached out to the two major GSM carriers, AT&T and T-Mobile, for information on whether the phone will be available directly through them and for how much. We will keep you updated.
