Last year's Nexus 7, still on sale both online and through Australian retailers, currently costs $249 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, and $299 for the 32GB Wi-Fi model.

Whle the new Nexus 7 is available through Australian retail stores, Google has not yet opened online sales through the Google Play Store.

There's also no word on when the 32GB Wi-Fi+LTE Nexus 7 model, priced at $439, will become available.

The Australian retail launch of the new Nexus 7 comes just over a month after Google officially unveiled the device globally.
