MLB Mission Control is what you get when NASA meets baseball

Forget old-fashioned widescreen television screens. Try watching your favorite games on the MLB Mission Control instead.

Do you know what baseball and space travel have in common? Far too much data, that's what. There may also be something to be said about spherical objects, people in costumes, and odd food, but let's not get too carried away here.

Inspired by the control rooms from NASA's youth, MLB Mission Control is an 18-foot long control panel console that, according to its makers, "serves up everything from live feeds from every ballpark to real-time wind speed across every field."

Phew.

MLB Mission Control has over 30 toggle switches that can pull up team, stadium, league, and social data for your viewing pleasure. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if the machine can tell you what the players ate last Tuesday, too. No word on whether it'll provide updates on the status of Oakland A's outfielder Josh Reddick's beard.

Needless to say, the development of the MLB Mission Control was about as easy as holding a ball game in the middle of a tornado. Over 10 different APIs and 6 languages played a part in the creation of this piece of metallic awesomeness. I'm not entirely sure if the MLB Mission control is open to the public, but you're welcome to visit 4th Street and Broadway in Manhattan to find out.
