Mocking the clichs and horrors of stock images and video is nothing new, but director Keith Schofield has used their conventions to humorously comment on mainstream media representations of love and happiness in the above music video for Darwin Deez's song You Can't Be My Girl.
The director - best known for Diesel's SFW XXX viral - has inserted the singer in some hackneyed, clinically sheened clips of office and home life, couples clinking glasses and mildly aspirational people generally hanging out in idealised locations - situations he can't take part in as they don't exist. The compositing is often slightly-off - especially as the video gets ridiculous towards the end - but this just adds to its effect.
