Panasonic Viera 2012 TVs get interface upgrade

A much needed change to the user interface

Panasonic has announced the Rovi TotalGuide is available for its 2012 line-up of Viera TVs. The range covers plasma, LED and LCD models.

It’s good news for customers that Rovi’s TotalGuide interface is now available for Panasonic’s 2012 range of TVs and Blu-ray players. The TotalGuide will be a boon for customers who have suffered with Panasonic’s previously poor efforts.

"We continue to expand our range of applications available to enhance the consumer experience on Viera Connect," said Fabien Roth, Director TV Group, Panasonic Marketing Europe. "Through our collaboration with Rovi, we are able to offer an advanced guide application that makes navigation easy and intuitive - enabling viewers to further enjoy our excellent range of Smart Viera TVs."

The firm announced and showed off the Viera TVs at this year’s consumer electronics show (CES) in January. Models include the ST50, UT50 and XT50 Plasma series and the E50, ET5, E5 and X5 LED series.

Henry Hauser, vice president of merchandising at Panasonic said, "Our enhanced and very strong 2012 model line-up builds on Panasonic's priority to be the highest quality entertainment company, providing the consumer with many options and our new line-up does just that,"

"Panasonic is extremely proud that for the last three years our Plasma HDTVs have been nominated as CES Best in Show and our LED and LCD line-up is stronger than ever."

The LED series introduces two new screen sizes to the Viera range in bigger 47-inch and 55-inch. Panasonic’s ET5 series is the firm’s entry in the polarised 3D market which comes with four pairs of 3D glasses.
