A 55-inch glasses-free 3D TV

Toshiba has announced its ZL2 premium 3D TV will go on sale on 12 March exclusively at John Lewis.

PC Advisor is at the firm’s Product Preview 2012 at The Grove in Watford where availability and pricing has been announced for the glasses free TV. If you head to John Lewis on Oxford Street next Monday you can get the ZL2 for the portly sum of £6,999.

Toshiba said, "A combination of Toshiba’s multi-core Cevo Engine processing platform and leading-edge display technologies power a revolutionary cinematic experience that’s ideal for watching content in 2D or 3D."

Toshiba said the ZL2 is the world’s first big screen glasses free 3D TV. It touts a whopping quadHD resolution of 3840 x 2160. The display can support up to nine views simultaneously, each receiving a 720p image.

It can track the users to adjust the image but not in real-time and also has a single viewer mode. Toshiba makes the ZL2 in one 55-inch model size.

Resolution+ upscales content to beyond Full HD resolution and other technology is included such as a Freeview HD tuner, WiFi, digital living network alliance (DLNA) and 2D to 3D conversion.
