Ion launches iPod & Flash USB turntables

IFA: Digitize vinyl records to various formats

First we had the Ion USB turntable; then we had the Ion USB tape recorder; now Ion has seven models in its range of products that enable you to digitise old tracks to various formats.

At IFA, the company is showing off a USB turntable with an iPod dock, allowing you to record tracks from vinyl onto Apple's player; a USB turntable with a CD drive, for recording to disc; and a third model for recording from vinyl to Flash.

We were told that in the 18 months to June 2008, 1.3m Ion USB turntables were sold. The company claimed it's struggling to meet demand with the current line-up of products, and yet even more variations on the theme are expected next year.
