Interested in finding a tune on the internet? Try Yahoo's new audio search service, which the company began testing today.

The service, available at http://www.audio.search.com, allows users to comb through more than 50m music, voice and other files for free.

All they need to do is punch in words or phrases, say, of a song and are given a list of audio files that they can click on and play.

If a song is for sale by a music site, such as iTunes or Napster, Yahoo Audio will link to a web page where it can be purchased.

The new service will include podcasts, which are recordings made to be played on a computer or a digital device, such as Apple's iPod player.

Yahoo's new service will also point users to news, photos and the websites of artists, as well as information about their work.
