Book publishing giant Random House is launching an electronic publishing arm this autumn offering e-books and other print-on-demand formats.

AtRandom will arrive this autumn and will kick off with 100 classics from its Modern Library catalogue, including Joyce's Ulysses.

The venture will add further momentum to the e-book revolution, which gained considerable publicity following horror author Stephen King’s decision to offer his latest novel in serialised form exclusively over the Internet.

King looks set to bag at least £650000 from The Plant and has announced on his site that he will be going ahead with the third instalment of the novel.

He had previously threatened to abandon the experiment if he didn’t get sufficient up front payment for the first instalments. You can download the The Plant from
