Microsoft announced last week that it was removing two features from Office 10, which is the next version of the company's productivity suite.

Company officials said they made the decision to drop the Office Designer and the Local Web Storage System features after evaluating feedback from Office 10 beta testers.

The Office Designer was designed to help developers build collaborative applications that would run on the Local Web Storage System as well as on the Web Storage System found in Exchange 2000 and the new Tahoe document management server.

Microsoft hopes to ship Office 10 in the first half of 2001.
