Games lovers will be given chance to test their skills against gaming experts and check out the latest games to hit the market at next year's London Interactive, a week-long gaming extravaganza launched by Elspa (the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association).

The event, which is still some way off, will run from 30 August to 5 September 04, taking as its theme the four elements of 'play, interact, experience and live'. Further details about what visitors can expect are under wraps until nearer the time.

The event has received support from several London representatives, including the Capital's Mayor Ken Livingstone.

"The creative industries, including computer and video games, are major contributors to London's economy. It is important to promote these industries and to create conditions in which they can thrive. A London-wide festival of gaming could offer an excellent way to promote computer and video gaming to investors as well as the public and to underpin the Capital's role as a centre for gaming," said Livingstone.
