A list of the top 100 people in Britain is due to be released on a new BBC2 series — Great Britons.
Rather than being a roll-calls of the rich and famous, this list focus on those people closest to our hearts and minds. But surprisingly it only contains 22 celebrities, with scientists and inventors racking up higher points.
Professor Steven Hawking, printing press inventor William Claxton, and world wide web creator Tim Berners Lee all receive a mention.
The list, compiled after questioning 3,000 Brits, features many faces from the public domain from the Queen to David Beckham, with TV viewers given the opportunity to vote for the Greatest Briton of all.
The programme starts in October, and candidates will be announced in groups of 10 each week throughout the hour-long show.
