Ideal Home Show: Tiny Takami

Convergence mania as Tiny bungs it all in one box

Tiny today launched its first fully-featured home entertainment centre. The Takami hides within it a DVD player, TV receiver, hard disk VCR, hi-fi, CD player, PC, games console and MP3 player.

The basic layout comes in at £999 for the unit, wireless keyboard, remote control and stereo speakers which you can plug in to any TV set. And if you can dig out nigh-on £7,000 from between the sofa cushions you can really go beresek with a plasma screen and full surround-sound speaker set.

This kind of convergence unit echoes the release of devices such as the TiVo, a video recorder that copies programmes to a hard drive. But with PC, DVD, CD and internet capabilities, home entertainment centres will surely become a staple for the house of the future.
