Online signup for breast cancer race

Cancer charity goes to web to recruit runners

The Imperial Cancer Research Fund has thrown open entries to its Race For Life 2001 fundraising event to women online.

The charity hopes to recruit at least 160,000 women to compete in 5km races across the country this summer. Last year it got 120,000 women to run and raised £5.3m.

Since 1994, races for ICRF have yielded more than £12m for the charity.

Money raised will fund research into cancers specific to women. A tenth of the UK’s female population is affected by breast cancer at some point.
