Hitachi to announce high capacity memory cards

Compact Flash set to hold nearly half a gigabyte

Hitachi will unveil the highest-capacity Compact Flash memory card yet on Monday (29 May).

The new card packs in enough memory to store 448Mb of data - considerably more than the current highest capacity card, which holds 192Mb.

The Compact Flash format is commonly used in portable digital electronic devices such as digital still cameras and digital audio players.

The Tokyo-based electronics maker will also unveil a PC Card memory card capable of holding 1Gb of information.
