Intel's annual Spring IDF (Intel Developer Forum) conference will not be held in the US next year, after the world's largest chip maker revealed that it’s moving the event to Beijing.
IDF is a series of high-profile conferences held twice a year, and in previous years, both Spring and Fall IDF kicked off in San Francisco, where Intel's top executives made significant product announcements and outlined the company's future direction.
After the San Francisco event, Intel used to take the IDF conference on the road, hosting smaller conferences in cities around the world, including Tokyo, Bangalore, Seoul and Prague. That practice will apparently end next year when Intel will hold a single Spring IDF event in Beijing.
Dates for the Spring IDF conference were not immediately available.
While Intel does not plan to hold a Spring IDF conference in the US next year, there will be a Fall IDF conference in San Francisco. That conference will be followed by a Fall IDF conference in Taipei, which is home to many of the world's largest computer hardware makers, the executive said.
