Gadgets are Chrimbo top sellers

Stockings are bulging nationwide with gadgets and phones - you love 'em

Playstation 2s and phones are walking off the shelves this Christmas with 18% of people questioned saying they were going to buy one.

This is second only to micro-scooters, the lethal-looking machines that don't have brakes. Deloitte & Touche, one of the big five management consultancies, has been analysing buying trends up to Christmas and the figures make good reading for IT and electronics companies.

The results suggested that a huge 18 percent of consumers were aiming for a Playstation 2 this Christmas. Further down the line and still going strong were Pokemon products at 13 percent on the wanted list. Though Pokemon are essentially toys their most popular incarnation exists on Nintendo's GameBoy. Five percent of people said they would like a mobile phone for Christmas while, not surprisingly, no one wanted anything to do with socks.
