Multivision multiplies

Indigenous UK PC maker doubles output

West Midlands-based PC maker Multivision has embarked on an ambitious expansion programme, and will more than double its production capacity as of Monday 6 November.

Currently the company is producing an average of 40 PCs a day from its retail unit in Halesowen High Street. But this week it is adding the finishing touches to a nearby industrial unit from which it can churn out 100 units a day.

To ensure product quality is maintained more of the new space will be devoted to software burning and testing than to assembly.

“We won’t overstretch ourselves,” said Multivision founder Sat Mann. “We are expanding in manageable stages.”

The unit will also include stores, sales and technical support. The increased production capacity signals a more proactive approach from Multivision, which has up to now relied on incoming calls.

“We are dealing with all incoming business now, but we could do better,” said Mann. “We can contact those people who asked for quotes but didn’t phone back, and be more proactive with local businesses.”

Multivision is one of a handful of indigenous UK PC makers, a group currently in a state of flux as some cease trading and others expand to fill the vacuum.
