Dell dishes out six of the best

Three PCs, two all-in-ones and a notebook

Dell’s autumn catwalk includes two replacement models for the Photo All-In-One printer range, an Inspiron XPS notebook and three Dimension PCs.

The Lexmark-built Photo All-In-One printers, the 924 and 944, replace the 922 and 942 models respectively.

Both models come with a flap of plastic to prevent foreign objects falling in the paper input tray. The 924, at the lower end of the range, now uses the PictBridge interface, meaning it can operate as a standalone device without it having to be connected to a PC.

The claimed print speeds for both models are 20ppm (pages per minute) in monochrome and 16ppm in colour, and the print resolution is 4,800x1,200dpi. They cost £69 and £109 respectively, including VAT.

The Inspiron XPS M170 notebook features the GeForce Go 7800 graphics card, nVidia’s latest mobile graphics offering. With a 17in widescreen stretching to a resolution of 1,920x1,200, it is aimed at users who wish to play games but who also wish to use it as an all-round entertainment system. It has a price tag of £1,621.

The Dimension 1100 costs only £249 and is the entry-level model of the three Dimension desktop PCs announced. In the middle of the range is the Dimension 5150, which uses the BTX (Balanced Technology Extended) design to keep it quiet and cool.

At the top of the range, the Dimension 9150 also uses BTX and features Intel’s dual-core Pentium processors, and will cost £641.
