Telewest fields Kaspersky antivirus

Always on, always vulnerable

Telewest's blueyonder Internet service is preparing to employ advanced virus-checking software from Kaspersky Labs.

Kaspersky Lab's antivirus technology will be used to scan all incoming and outgoing emails to protect blueyonder customers from viruses.

Telewest Broadband provides Internet services to more than 900,000 homes in the UK, so putting measures in place to protect customers was a priority, the company said.

Chad Raube, director of product strategy and product development at Telewest Broadband, said: "We chose the antivirus solution from Kaspersky Lab because it has an impressive detection rate and updates to the virus signature databases are available quickly after a virus is discovered."

"The disruption caused by today's threats is immense, so it is very gratifying to see organisations like Telewest Broadband taking the initiative to protect their customers," said Svetlana Ivanova, managing director of Kaspersky Lab UK.
